Alva Diane Stevenson
February 6, 1955 - June 14, 2026
On Sunday, June 14, 2026, Alva Diane Stevenson peacefully departed this earthly life surrounded by loved ones. While our hearts are saddened by her passing, we rejoice in knowing that she has been called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Diane was born on February 6, 1955, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Gladys E. Allen. She was the youngest of four daughters and shared a special bond with her sisters, Alice Varice Franklin, Mary K. Brown, and Eddie "Betty" Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sisters, Varice and Mary.
Affectionately known simply as "Diane," she was truly one of a kind. Her vibrant personality, quick wit, and colorful commentary could brighten any room and bring laughter to those around her. Whether offering advice, sharing a story, or simply enjoying conversation, Diane had a unique gift for making people feel loved, welcomed, and understood. Her wisdom often came wrapped in humor, leaving lasting impressions and treasured memories for all who knew her.
Diane accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Antioch Baptist Church in Duncan, Oklahoma. She graduated from Duncan High School with the Class of 1973. She moved to New York in 1987 and returned to Oklahoma in 1996. She eventually moved back to her beloved hometown of Duncan in 2016 where she spent the remainder of her life.
Throughout her life, Diane dedicated herself to caring for others, working for many years as a Home Health Aide. Her nurturing spirit and compassionate heart made her a natural caregiver, both professionally and personally.
Family was the center of Diane's world. She was a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, DeAndra Michelle Allen, and her son, Rickey Leon Stevenson, Jr. and his wife, Deena Stevenson. She embraced everyone she loved as her own and was known as a grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend to countless people whose lives she touched through her kindness and generosity.
Diane found happiness in many things. She loved music, dancing, reading, telling jokes, and engaging in good conversation. She had a deep appreciation for African culture and décor, enjoyed watching movies-especially Independence Day, Unstoppable, and Volcano-and adored her beloved pets, Bo, Daisy, Lucky, and Nana. Some of her greatest joys came from spending time with family, whether at holiday gatherings, family reunions, or simply sharing everyday moments together.
Duncan always held a special place in Diane's heart. She fondly remembered the people, places, and experiences that shaped her life there. Her love for her hometown never faded, and she carried those memories with her throughout her life.
Diane leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, DeAndra Michelle Allen; her son, Rickey Leon Stevenson, Jr., and wife Deena Stevenson; her sister, Eddie "Betty" Brown; her brother-in-law, Gene Brown; her grandchildren: Tyrone Lindsey, Jr., Michael Maple, Tyshawn Allen, Tasjaa Mitchell, Telia Mitchell, Tyrese Stevenson and his wife, Tammy-Belle Stevenson, Nikko Stevenson and his wife, Katrina Stevenson, Meo Holloway, and Victorious Stevenson and her partner, Latila Coulter; her great-grandchildren, Nyomi Lene Lee Stevenson, Zinnia Monique Iniko Stevenson, Mariah Maple, and Nevaeh Alva Rose Stevenson; her nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Though she has received her heavenly wings, Diane's presence will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will forever be remembered for her laughter, her strength, her wisdom, her compassion, and the unconditional love she shared so freely.
Her legacy is not measured by the years she lived, but by the countless lives she enriched along the way.
May she rest in sweet and eternal peace.
