Billy Gene Harman

June 2, 1939 — March 17, 2015

Billy Gene Harman, 75, longtime resident of Duncan, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at his home in Duncan surrounded by his family. A memorial graveside celebration will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 21, 2015 in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, with the Chaplin Charles Leggett with Faith Hospice officiating. Services are under the direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home. There is no visitation at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conferred by the Stephens County Honors Team and services will be escorted by the Patriot Guard. Bill was born June 2, 1939, in Maysville, OK, to James Ira & Josephine (Bartlett) Harman. He grew up on a dairy farm in Oklahoma. He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1957. He had an honorable discharge from the United States Army on September 30, 1967. He married Margaret Ann Brooks on December 4, 1964, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She preceded him in death on February 18, 1994. He was a manager at McComas Truck Lines and L&L Motor Freight. He enjoyed going to the Simmons Center twice a day for many years not only for exercise but for the many friendships he had made. He participated in numerous Senior Games and recently donated all his t-shirts back to the Simmons Center for display. He loved to play golf with his son and grandsons. He was known for his teddy bear persona and had a special place in his heart for his granddaughter, April. His favorite thing was to be surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Bill was also a member of the Moose Lodge and VFW. Bill is survived by his son, Mike Harman and his wife, Kelli, of Duncan; step-son, Richard Harman, of Duncan; step-daughter, Donna Nalley, of Duncan; five grandchildren, Derek Harman, of Duncan; Tanner Harman, of Duncan; Brent Harman, of Duncan; Sonya Harman, of Louisiana; April Campbell, of Duncan; three great-grandchildren; Skyler Burris, of Duncan; Logan Harman, of Duncan and Ethan Harman, of Duncan and a host of other family and close friends. Bill was also preceded in death by his parents, James Ira Harman and Josephine Lister; one brother, James Harman; and two grandchildren, Shane Harman and Amanda Harman.
