Elmer David Hewitt, 92, a former long time Duncan resident passed away Friday, February 8th, 2013 in the Integris Baptist Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Eastside Church Of Christ with Ron Stough officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Ft. Sill National Veterans Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Elmer was born June 13, 1920 at Ladysmith, Wisconsin the son of John Henry and Alice (DeRosier) Hewitt. He graduated from the Lincoln High School in Park Falls, Wisconsin in 1938. He and Lois Horn were married at Amarillo, Texas on March 4, 1943 and she preceded him in death on May 25, 2003. He served in the United States Air Force for 25 years before his retirement. He came to Duncan in 1970 from Oklahoma City and resided here until September 2011 when his health made it necessary for him to move to Edmond to be closer to his son Greg. He love to play golf, woodworking, printing and was a faithful member of the Eastside Church Of Christ where he served as and Elder for 25 years. He was currently a member of the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Survivors include two sons John Hewitt of Robinson, Texas and Greg Hewitt of Edmond, Oklahoma; a daughter Sue Goodknight of Wichita Falls, Texas; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren as well as numerous friends.
