Gary Edmondson

Jul 11, 1950 — Oct 18, 2026

Gary Edmondson, 76, of Duncan, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2026, at his home.

Born July 11, 1950, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Gary was the son of Thomas Lloyd and Winoma (Bryan) Edmondson. He devoted his life to journalism and media, serving as editor at The Corsicana Daily Sun, the Borger News Herald, Woodward News and Vice President of Educational Filmstrips in Huntsville, Texas. For the past decade, he channeled his passion for civic engagement as chairman of the Stephens County Democratic Party, contributing weekly columns to The Duncan Banner, The Oklahoma Observer, and The Huntsville Item; a platform he used to share his informed perspective on issues that mattered.

A man of creative spirit and restless curiosity, Gary was an accomplished musician, poet, and songwriter. He painted and was an avid traveler whose wanderlust took him hiking across Oklahoma and South Dakota, seeking out the landscapes that inspired him. Those who knew him saw someone equally at home crafting words for publication or for verse, playing music, capturing beauty on canvas, or exploring the natural world.

There will be no viewing or services at the funeral home.

Gary is survived by his sister Donna Pulliam of Duncan, Oklahoma; niece Juli Willmott and her husband Bruce of Weatherford, Texas; nephews Edward Russell of Austin, Texas, and Clark Pulliam of Duncan, Oklahoma; Great-nephew Eddy Russell, Great Nieces Lindy Willmott, Aviana Lee, Olivia Russell, Alonie and Sloane Russell.
