Lorena Belle Butler, 104, passed from this life Saturday, March 21, 2026, in the Elk Crossing Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in the Bethel Assembly of God Church with Reverend Ron Meador officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.
Lorena was born January 26, 1922, at Empire, Oklahoma, the daughter of James A and Leta H. (Woods) Holmes. She graduated from the Fox High School in 1942. She and Billy Clemard Butler were married at Velma, Oklahoma on April 12, 1942, and he preceded her in death on July 10, 2007. She worked for the Stephens County Optometric Extension Program. The family has many memories of Granny's fish fries and homemade banana ice cream! She loved finding all the treasures by stopping at every garage sale and later was known as the Queen of jigsaw puzzles at Duncan Assisted Living. She enjoyed camping, fishing and attending church activities. She had been a faithful member of Bethel Assembly of God Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son Jimmy Butler, daughters Nancy Monroe and Linda Wharton, brother Mansel Holmes, sisters Juanita Dodd and Marie Holmes and granddaughter Billie Jean Butler.
Survivors include grandchildren Brent (Carolyn) Davis, Kevin (Syvonna) Davis, Vince (Constance) Wharton, Brandon (Betty) Wharton, Chelsea Butler & Chance Butler and many great grandchildren, brother Jimmy Holmes and Sister Annetta Bloodworth.
Pallbearers will be David Taylor, Bryce Davis, Chris Gary, Cody Wharton, Lynn Headrick and
Graham Culp
