Sue Ann Hefty - A Life Full of Love and Laughter
April 29, 1944 - September 14, 2025
Sue Ann Hefty was born on April 29, 1944, to Jerry Murl McCarthy and Lurlene Perkins McCarthy. From the start, she brought warmth, laughter, and a big heart into the world-and she carried those gifts with her every day.
Sue was many things to many people: a wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, stepmom, aunt and friend. She is survived by her husband, Phillip Eugene Hefty, and her sons Russell Vinson and Chris Vinson (with his wife Linda). She was a proud grandma to Russell's two sons, Brett and Brian, and to Chris's daughter, Annalei Hill (with her husband Mahlon). She was absolutely delighted to be a great grandma to Annalei's two daughters, Embyr and Ashe Hill.
Through her marriage to Phillip, Sue also embraced her role as stepmom to Scott Hefty (and wife Lorrie) and Melanie Childers (and husband Greg). She loved and was deeply proud of her step-grandchildren: Lindsey, Emma, and Cooper Hefty, and Cameron, Connor, and Cole Childers.
Sue was the kind of person who rarely met a stranger. She had a smile ready for anyone who walked through her door and a hug to go with it. She lit up every room, loved a good celebration, and made sure everyone felt included and cared for. Whether it was a holiday, a birthday, or just a casual get-together, Sue was happiest when people were laughing and making memories.
Her life was full of heart, humor, and connection. She leaves behind a legacy of love that lives on in her family, her friends, and all the lives she touched.
