Virdean Wilson

Virdean (Chapman) Wilson passed away peacefully in her home on May 25,2015, after a brief illness. She was 92. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Bethesda Church of God in Duncan, OK with the Reverend Harold Metheny officiating. Services are under the direction of Bailes-Polk Funeral Home in Duncan. Interment will be at a later date at Parks Cemetery. Visitaion will be at the Funeral Home Tuesday, May 26, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. She was born February 19, 1923 near Santa Fe, OK. to Ed and Myrtle (Mitchell) Chapman. She married Fred 'Chic" Wilson on November 5, 1941 in Waurika, OK. That day she was working in the cotton fields with her parents when Fred came to the fields to ask her dad for her hand in marriage. On October 22, 1942, their only child, Daniel Eugene, was born. She and he worked serveral different jobs early in their marriage, but had most of their success in the oilfield, where she worked right along side him for many years. After their retirment she enjoyed quilting and crocheting, working in her flower beds, but mostly spending time with her family. Particularly her great, great, grandson J.D. Never has a little boy enjoyed his great, great grandmother as much as he enjoyed his Mimi Virdean. And she surely felt the same way about him. Survivors include her son Dan (Eugene) Wilson, and his wife Grace, of Santa Fe. Two granddaughters, Angela Maxwell and her husband Kenneth and Brenda Coffia and her husband Mike of Santa Fe, two great granddaughters, Danielle of Duncan and Deena of Santa Fe, and one great, great grandson, J.D. Two sisters, Bernice Emerson of Washington and Jaunice Rosenstein of California, two sister-in-laws, Gert Long and Fern Wilson, both of Duncan, and serveral nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, her parents, three brothers, Daniel Chapman, Warren Chapman and Artel Chapman, and two sisters, Geneva Beaver and Opal Sherrill. Pall bearers will be Skeet Chapman, Bim Chapman, Tony Hodges, Harley Files, Jeff Stallons and Mike Franklin.
